GADUGI: John Rollin Ridge Family Burial Plot Commemoration

DATE: Sunday, May 22, 2022
TIME: 12:00 - 4:00 PM
WHERE: John Rollin Ridge Family Burial Plot, Unendowed Section, Greenwood Memorial Cemetery, Grass Valley, CA

You're invited to attend the commemoration of the final installation and dedication of the John Rollin Ridge Family Burial Plot in the unendowed section of the Greenwood Memorial Cemetery, Grass Valley, California. We are joined by Mary Buzzard and Myra Robertson, two community leaders from our Sister Community in Cherokee Nation, Marble City Activity Organization. Marble City played a big role in the restoration of the burial plot, and we could not have finished without their partnership.

Along with the commemoration ceremony, there will be music, songs, and stories. This is a culmination of over 5 years of work by our communities, and you won't want to miss it!

Afterwards, you're also invited to join us for dinner at Thunder Valley Indian Casino Buffet in Lincoln, CA. Dutch treat. Please send a RSVP ASAP to Mike Webb at mwew1981@gmail.com or (916) 786-8405.

CNCV Fall Gathering

Fall 2021 Gathering Poster.PNG

When:
October 9, 2021, 12:00 PM

Where:
Picnic Site Dockside, William B. Pond Recreation Area, 5700 Arden Way, Carmichael, CA 95608

Info:
Parking $5.00/car, dogs allowed, covered ADA-accessible tables, near restrooms and water fountain

The Cherokees of Northern Central Valley Fall Gathering (for the first time in a very long time) is this Saturday at William B Pond Park in Sacramento. The attached flyer will have more details.

Directions:  Located at 5700 Arden Way off of Fair Oaks  Blvd., Arden Way dead ends into the park. There is a $5 dollar per vehicle entry fee at the self-pay kiosk that takes cash or credit card. The site for our Gathering is at the picnic area.  Stay on the main road and drive around to the dockside picnic area at the end of the road. There is a gazebo, with tables, restrooms, accessible parking and accessible path to view the pond.

Advisory:  The water is too low for fishing.  Currently there are some very aggressive bees at the park who want to share any food of yours.  So bring snacks at your own risk!  And you might want to bring a comfortable lawn chair (to beat off the bees?).

We can’t wait to see our Cherokee family again!
