CHEROKEE NATION HISTORY COURSE
The CNCV hosted a Cherokee Nation History Course last month with near and old dear family and friends. This is an excellent new history class designed by history experts, like Catherine Foreman Gray. There is much demand for it in at-large communities. We are very grateful that we were able to have a course in our area.
We were honored by Will Chavez, who volunteered to come to our community to teach the course. He brought a unique perspective and stories to share through his experience as Assistant Editor of the Cherokee Phoenix newspaper and coordinator and trainer for the Remember the Removal bike rides. As a gesture of our thanks, he was presented with a beautiful CNCV Glass Flame Award with “ᏩᏙ” (wado) etched into it, created by Liz and Mike Webb.
We are continually grateful that our Nation dedicates itself to preserving and teaching our history, language, and culture.
