ᏓᏗᏬᏂᏏ Dadiwonisi (We Will Speak) Film Available for Viewing

Great news! ᏓᏗᏬᏂᏏ Dadiwonisi (We Will Speak) film is now available to stream on demand through Kanopy! Kanopy is available on your computer, tablet, or as an app through streaming devices like Apple TV or Roku. Plus, it's FREE with a library card or university login!

This 1 hour and 35 minute video highlights the critical work of language activists, artists, youth, and elders who are now leading a growing movement of urgent radical revitalization efforts to help save the Cherokee language from the brink of extinction. The film also delves into the history of the Cherokee syllabary, the destructive assimilationist legacy of boarding schools, the lasting impacts of the Trail of Tears, and the ways in which members of the Cherokee tribe reconcile their relationship to American identity.

Filmmakers hope to expand the platforms it's available on as the year progresses. Above all, the filmmakers wants us to never forget that the language work chronicled in this film remains an active process, critical to keeping Cherokee culture alive.

Here’s how to watch:
1. Go to kanopy.com or download the Kanopy app
