Proposed By-Laws Revisions:

Information for Membership Voting

Background:

Our CNCV By-Laws state that they will be reviewed and approved by our Council annually. In our review, we found opportunities for improvement. A By-Laws workgroup met to discuss the current By-Laws at length and suggested revisions were thoughtfully drafted to meet our growing community needs. These revisions were approved by the CNCV Council and then approved by the Cherokee Nation Community and Cultural Outreach (CCO) Office administration.

Changes:

The changes consist of four themes: (1) CCO recommendations and to align with new CCO policies and procedures, (2) additions and definitions to improve clarity, (3) election procedure improvements as promised to provide additional clarity and structure, and (4) raising annual dues to $30 to accommodate for increasing costs and the loss of a no-cost regular meeting space.

Voting:

The Council has deemed it necessary to vote on these changes urgently at our June 2024 membership meeting so that we can promptly align ourselves with CCO recommendations and provide improved election procedures. Paid CNCV members may vote on proposed amendments and must be present to vote. An affirmative vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the ballots cast are needed to approve an amendment.

If you are a CNCV member, please review the By-Laws Draft, via the button link below, and come ready to discuss and vote in June.
